My Climate Story in Translation!

January 30, 2020

As we continue to collect personal stories of climate change for our My Climate Story project, we've begun a new initiative to make our story prompts and submission forms reflect the reality of our multilingual communities! This past Tuesday we held our first "Translate-a-thon" at Kelly Writer's House with help from the Penn Language Center and Doublespeak Magazine. Faculty, staff, and students worked in groups and individually to translate our My Climate Story toolkits from English into Spanish, Mandarin, Japanese, French, Kiswahili, Filipino, Afrikaans, Polish and German.

Are you bilingual in English and another language? Have an interest in translation or want to get involved in the project? We're eager to include more language options for would-be contributors to our storybank and to involve more members of the Penn community in translating (and reviewing) the prompts, soliciting new story submissions in communities of non-English speakers here in Philadelphia and farther afield, and in translating new submissions from other languages into English.

Interested? Please get in touch at director@ppehlab.org, we'd love to hear from you!
