Restoring the Land through Environmental Art

An Explorer Sunday Event

Enjoy a walk through our fields and forests to learn how art can address ecological challenges, from invasive plants to dropping pollinator populations.  LandLab artists will talk about how they developed installations that create positive change for the land.  With artists and scientists sharing their perspectives, it's a great chance to see the installations  and learn how art crosses boundaries and offers creative solutions to pressing environmental issues.  In partnership with the Philadelphia Science Festival.

LandLab is an environmental art residency program that integrates art, ecological restoration, and public engagement, and is a joint project of the Schuylkill Center and the Center for Emerging Visual Artists (CFEVA).

The 2014-2015 LandLab resident artists are:

Jake Beckman
Leslie Birch
Marguerita HaganB.H. Mills, and Maggie Mills
WE THE WEEDS, a collaboration of artist Kaitlin Pomerantz and botanist Zya Levy.

Support for LandLab is provided by the Knight Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, PECO, the Dolfinger-McMahon Foundation, and the William Penn Foundation.
